“Disobedience – The Sousa Mendes Story” is a 2008 movie on Aristides Sousa Mendes, the Portuguese Consul in Bordeaux who disobeyed his superiors and issued visas that allowed thousands of people, mostly Jewish, to escape the Nazis when they invaded France in 1940. Thanks to his actions, Sousa Mendes was named Righteous Among the Nations by Israel.

Before the movie, Portuguese wine and beer will be available from the bar at the Avalon Theatre. The movie will be followed by a Q&A with Olivia Mattis from the Sousa Mendes Foundation.
